These apps are typically linked back to a spatial database and information system. Apps are developed to be usable on any mobile device and have the ability to support both online and offline capture for use in areas of poor or no signal.

The applications developed will commonly form part of a larger managed workflow process that will incorporate capture, management and analysis of captured or surveyed data. Consideration is given to the overall user experience and development of the necessary controls to eliminate invalid data capture or survey.
